Thomas Headed To The ACC
The Miami Hurricanes scored a big time commitment for their program this week. After home visits with Georgia Tech, UCLA, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati, forward Adrian Thomas committed to Frank Haith's Miami program. Thomas, a 6-foot-5 small forward out of Pembroke Pines (Fla.) Flanagan, felt that he could really come in and get things rolling in Miami. "It was the fact that I can be an impact player there," Thomas said. "I've been over there a couple of times. I thought I could be a three rather than a four and that's where I wanted to play." According to Thomas, Haith did an outstanding job of forging a relationship with him. In reality, the Canes came from behind in this one to score a significant recruiting score. Haith made Thomas his priority and the head coach was successful. "I talked to [Coach Haith] a lot. We had a good relationship and I could trust him. They're at the bottom right now but they're trying to be on the rise and I wanted to be a part of that." Last season, Thomas averaged 24 points and 12 rebounds. His shining summer moment came when he and Edwin Rios combined to get Team Breakdown into the finals of the Reebok Big Time tournament. As a player, Thomas is one of those hard-nosed, slightly undersized prospects with a legit jump shot on the perimeter. Academically he's a standout in the classroom and a nice addition for the Hurricanes.
