Williams and Mercer Still Headed to Georgia
Forget about Louis Williams and Mike Mercer taking any more visits. According to both players and their fathers, that's not going to happen. ``There's no way he's going to take any other visits," said Mitch Faulkner, Williams' father. "This is his first time going through the process and in his mind, he figured if someone wanted him to take a visit, he'd take it and get a chance to see somewhere he's never been." ``He's committed to Georgia," added Faulkner. ``And he isn't going to take any visits." Both Mercer and his father, Michael Sr., reiterated the same outlook despite a recent published report which said that Williams planned on taking five official trips and was "95 percent" committed to Dennis Felton's program. ``I'm totally committed to Georgia," the younger Mercer said. "Taking visits defeats the purpose of committing to a school. Once you commit, you're set. I'm not looking at taking any official visits. I'm set on Georgia." The only thing that could change both players minds is if the Bulldogs are ineligible to play in the postseason or, in Williams' case, he opts to go directly to the NBA. According to numerous sources, the sanctions that will be imposed in wake of the Jim Harrick situation will not involve the postseason – but will likely result in much smaller penalties. ``All these kids want to do is be able to play in a Final Four," added Faulkner. "If they can't do that, they probably won't go there." Both families maintain that the recent speculation that both players are re-opening their recruitment is coming from somewhere else and not from themselves. ``A lot of people have a lot of other motives right now because of all the talk with Louis and possibly going to the NBA," Mike Mercer Sr. said. "It's probably only going to get worse." ``Mike is committed to Georgia and what's going on over there," he continued. "That's where he's going unless something crazy happens like Coach Felton quits. These kids don't really understand the recruiting process to a certain degree. We have no intention of visiting any other colleges."
