Darrin Horn’s first full recruiting class at Western Kentucky will be a good one. Horn received a letter of intent from Caverna High’s Boris Siakam, a 6-7 forward from the state of Kentucky.
Our No. 1 goal with our first full recruiting class was to become more athletic, and Boris helps round out a group that has accomplished that,” Horn said.
Joining Siakam will be 6-4 guard Courtney Lee, 6-3 scorer Ty Rogers, 6-7 power forward Mike Walker and Tennessee transfer Elgrace Wilborn who sat out last season.
Over in the Southern Conference, Steve Shurina found himself and Western Carolina a fine marksman in the form of Orlando’s Trey Hopkins.
Hopkins, a standout for Team Florida, was getting interest from Louisiana-Lafayette. However, Western Carolina made an extremely strong push for him in the last month.
"He's a tremendous talent and an extremely good shooter," Nike Team Florida coach Tom Topping said. "He's a terrific student and is great academically. He'll fit in real well because he shoots and has a real good understanding of the game."
Over in the Horizon league, Wright State’s Paul Biancardi made his move with a pair of prospects. Parysh Munroe, a 6-7, 230 pound forward out of Massanutten Military in Virginia, inked his letter of intent.
He’ll be joined this fall by junior college transfer Jaron Taylor. The 6-2, 185 pound Taylor hails from Catonsville JC in Maryland. Taylor shot a sweet 45% from 3-point range this year.
