Here's a look at some of the guys who caught our attention yesterday in Las Vegas at the Easter Classic.
Richard Semrau, 6-9 SO PF Rocky River (Ohio) Lutheran West. We don't usually report on players outside of the west, but with no national guys here we thought we'd offer some thoughts. Semrau gets your attention in a hurry. Great frame, exellent feet and hands, moves real well -- he's the whole package. A likely elite player nationally in th 2006 class.
Marques Johnson, 6-4 SO PG Fort Wayne (Ind.) Snider. A teammate of Semrau's on the Blessed IJN team, Johnson is among the best PGs we've seen in the 2006 class. Very solid handle, vision and passing ability, with unusual poise for a young point. Another elite player nationally in the 2006 class.
Marcus Johnson, 6-5 JR SF Los Angeles (Calif.) Westchester. Still shows the freakish athleticism, but skills have a ways to go. Shot is inconsistent, but could get better with work. With more skill development, Johnson has a chance to be a high major wing.
Drew Housman, 5-8 JR PG Calabasas (Calif.) High. Very small, but what a competitor. Shoots it deep, makes great decisions, excellent passer -- if he was a couple inches taller, he could play at a high major. As it is, we expect him to get low to mid major looks.
Shaun Green, 6-8 JR PF Salt Lake City (Utah) Olympus. Green has good size, solid skills and a sweet stroke from three-point range. Not a great athlete, but with his frame and skills, we'd expect him to get some high major looks.
