It’s tough to get overlooked when you average 13 points and 6 assists and win a state championship. However, that’s exactly what happened to Orlando (FL)) Edgewater point guard Brandon Johnson. On Friday, Johnson got his time in the spotlight and committed to Old Dominion.
Johnson said he wasn’t bothered at all playing second fiddle to all-american Darius Washington. “Not really, it was just part of the process. Some get looked over and some don’t. I just thank God for the opportunity that Old Dominion gave me.”
St. Bonaventure and Georgia Southern recruited and offered Johnson, but in the end ODU got it done.
“The fact that the guys wanted to win, that was big. They’re and up and coming program and I think I can help them at the point guard spot. “
The Monarchs have some of the best young talent in the CAA and Johnson will be able to help them progress further. This is going to be an outstanding team for the next three seasons.
“They should be good. They have a lot of young players. All they talk about is winning and that’s one of the reasons I committed there.”
