Simon Gratz (Pa.) senior Mark Tyndale got it done this afternoon when he made his decision. The hard-nosed 6-4 swingman decided to stay in the northeast.

Simon Gratz (Pa.) 6-5 senior swingman Mark Tyndale committed to Temple Tuesday afternoon.

``He's perfect for them," Hunting Park coach Greg Wright said. "He's tenacious and never quits."

Tyndale scored 27 points to lead Simon Gratz to a 71-53 victory over Frankford in the Philadelphia Public League boys' basketball championship.

Tyndale was also considering LaSalle, Rhode Island and Providence. If not for his academics, Tyndale certainly would have received more interest.

``He understands the game and is just a non-stop type of player," Wright said. "He's relentless."

``He had a couple of schools in mind, but I think John Chaney was the type of coach that he wanted to play for. He understands that when one thing in his game isn't working, he does other things. That's why he fits for Temple."

Tyndale plans to take an official visit to Temple once the Owls conclude in the NIT. Temple plays at Rutgers Wednesday night.
