West coast programs will sign some very solid recruiting classes today -- the first day of the signing period. Between UCLA, USC, Arizona, Gonzaga, BYU and Oregon, who's #1?

Ranking the various classes for the west is a difficult job. Many of the programs will sign prospects out of the west region, and we don't see many national players as much as we'd like. Therefore, we've had to rely on impressions from people we trust for players outside of the west. We also don't cover junior college players. With those caveats in mind, here are the Top 10 West Coast classes as of the early signing period:

1) USC**

Robert Swift, 6-11 C Bakersfield (Calif.) High
Gabriel Pruitt, 6-3 PG Los Angeles (Calif.) Westchester
Nick Young, 6-6 SF Reseda (Calif.) Cleveland
Emanuel Willis, 6-8 PF Chatham (Virg.) Hargrave Military Academy

2) UCLA

Jordan Farmar, 6-1 PG Woodland Hills (Calif.) Taft
Arron Afflalo, 6-5 SG Compton (Calif.) Centennial
Lorenzo Mata, 6-9 PF South Gate (Calif.) High
Josh Shipp, 6-5 SG Los Angeles (Calif.) Fairfax

3) BYU

Chris Miles, 6-10 C Provo (Utah) Timpview
Lee Cummard, 6-6 SG Mesa (Ariz.) High
David Burgess, 6-10 C Irvine (Calif.) Woodbridge
Trent Plaisted, 6-9 PF San Antonio (Tex.) Tom Clark
Tai Wesley, 6-7 PF Provo (Utah) High

4) Oregon

Bryce Taylor, 6-4 SG North Hollywood (Calif.) Harvard-Westlake
Maarty Leunen, 6-8 PF Redmond (Ore.) High
Chamberlain Oguchi, 6-4 SG Richmond (Tex.) George Bush

5) Gonzaga

Josh Heytvelt, 6-9 PF Clarkston (Wash.) High
David Pendergraft, 6-6 SF Brewster (Wash.) High
Pierre-Marie Altidor-Cespedes, 6-1 PG St. Lambert (Ontario) Champlain School

6) Arizona

Jawann McClellan, 6-5 SF Houston (Tex.) Milby
Mohamed Tangara, 6-9 PF Durham (NC) Mt. Zion

Daniel Dillon, 6-3 CG, London (Kent.) North Laurel

7) Cal

DeVon Hardin, 6-8 PF Newark (Calif.) Newark Memorial
Sam Rayburn, 6-10 C Portland (Ore.) Sunset
Eric Vierneisel, 6-7 SF Algonquin (IL) Harry D Jacobs

8) Washington State

Derrick Low, 6-0 PG Honolulu (HI) Iolani
Daven Harmeling, 6-7 SF Fruita (Col.) Fruita Monument
Chris Henry, 6-8 C Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei
Robbie Cowgill, 6-9 PF Austin (Tex.) Westwood

9) Stanford

Peter Prowitt, 6-9 C Mclean (Virg.) The Potomac School
Taj Finger, 6-8 PF Bedford (NY) Fox Lane

10) Arizona State
Tim Pierce, 6-6 SG Hercules (Calif.) High
Craig Austin, 6-9 C Oceanside (Calif.) El Camino

**If Swift goes pro out of high school, as some expect he will, then USC's class falls to #6, just ahead of Arizona.
