Negus McKenna is headed south. He’s going to play his college basketball at Western Carolina.
“The kid could jump out of the gym,” Champlain St. Lambert associate head coach Pete Yannopoulos said. “He’s like 6-5 but with his long arms he plays like 6-10. He’s a rebounder and a slasher on both ends. He does a little bit of everything on the court.”
The 215-pounder picked the Catamounts over Canisius, Buffalo and Toledo.
During the Flyin’ To The Hoop tournament last year in Dayton, McKenna averaged 22 and 13 in a pair of games. For the season, he accounted for 18 points and 12 boards a night.
