Jordan Pleiman said yes. Then talented swingman Everett Spencer pledged his allegiance. Now, it’s junior college big man LaMorris Wallace giving Paul Biancardi and Wright State the thumbs up.
“He can make a huge impact,” Triton Junior College coach Curt Connor said. “If develops like he’s doing now with his day to day progress, there’s no doubt he could be the No. 1, 2 or 3 person in that league. He’s got a body like David Robinson. He’s got all the raw skills and he’s the best shot blocker in junior college basketball right now according to Jerry Mullen.”
Wallace, a 6-10 specimen, hails from Chicago. Wyoming and Massachusetts were among a handful of schools he was considering.
A bit of a journey man since high school, Wallace started out at Redlands JC before settling in at Triton. “He’s never played one minute of college basketball but he’s a sophomore academically,” Connor said. “They way it looks right now, he’ll have two years to play at Wright State.”
And they should be two very good years. Connor’s been at this a long time and raves about Wallace. “I’ve been placing kids at Division I’s for a long time and I think they did a great coach putting together the coaching staff. LaMorris is a great kid and they’re going to improve him every step of the way.”
