Mitchell lands at Louisville
It didn't take Donovan Mitchell long to realize Louisville was the place for him. Mitchell, a standout at Wolfeboro (N.H.) Brewster Academy, arrived in Louisville for a visit late Wednesday evening and popped for the Cardinals on Thursday. Mitchell informed Scout.com of his decision. "I'm going to University of Louisville," Mitchell told Scout.com. "I feel that's it's best fit for me," he added "Being here for one day, I'm needed here and I love it." Mitchell recently cut his list to Villanova, Florida State, Providence, Boston College and Louisville. Mitchell said his visit to Louisville helped push him to make his decision. "It was just something I've never seen before," Mitchell said. "The facilities and the coaching staff and I think it's best thing for me.” "I just love the family atmosphere," he added. "Everyone loves each other and I think I can showcase my talents here." According to Mitchell, Louisville assistant Kenny Johnson factored into his decision making as well. "Coach Johnson recruited me at Indiana," Mitchell said. "They've been on me. I've just been talking to him almost every day. It was great." "He's just been a great coach and a great guy," Mitchell added about Johnson. "He's been talking to me about everything. I like him and we just talk about everything." Arguably the biggest stock riser of July, Mitchell impressed with his athleticism, toughness, passing ability and especially his improved shooting. "I see myself fitting it at the one and the two," Mitchell said. "I can go out and make plays and play solid minutes and contribute early on." Mitchell joins a class that also consists of five-star wing Deng Adel and four-star power forward Raymond Spalding.
