Strong spring for Moore
The tradition of guards at Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha Catholic is long and storied, and currently class of 2016 point guard Alani Moore is showing how good he can be. Running with DC Premier on the Under Armour circuit this spring and summer, Moore has been very good and he is attracting significant college interest. "The spring went well," said Moore. "Now we have summer league starting with DeMatha, and with Premier we won the tournament in Houston and I am just ready for Atlanta and Vegas in July to finish off the summer." He continued, "I have been working hard on my mid-range game and my jump shot, and also working on keeping my pace up during games." Though Moore only checks in at around 5-foot-9 and 150 pounds, he does have a tremendous basketball IQ and also is someone who knows how to change speeds very well to keep defenders off balance. With that he has major college interest coming his way. "I have an offer from Penn State, and I plan on going to their camp in a couple of weeks," explained Moore. "Also Rhode Island, Maryland, Miami, Xavier, Virginia Tech, and a few other schools have been looking at me." Penn State has put in a lot of early effort in this recruitment, and Moore likes the Big Ten school. "I went up there for a visit, and their coaches really liked me and I thought it was a good campus and a great experience there," he explained. For now there is no hurry to make a decision, but Moore does know what he will be looking for in a school. "I want to go somewhere that I can play early on, and a school that plays with a faster pace," explained Moore. "I think I am best when we get up and down, so that is something I will look for. Also I want a place where I have a good relationship with the coaches, and just a place where I will enjoy my time in college on and off the court." Currently Moore is viewed as a three-star prospect.
