Vandy lands versatile forward

Joseph Toye

Four-star Joseph Toye will be playing his college ball in the SEC.

One of the more athletic and versatile forwards in the Midwest in the class of 2015 came off the board on Tuesday morning when La Porte (Ind.) La Lumiere product Joseph Toye picked the Vanderbilt Commodores.

"Joe Toye just committed to Vanderbilt," said La Lumiere head coach Alan Huss.

The 6-foot-6 forward can play multiple positions and had a solid school year all season for the Lakers. He showed an improved outside jumper, a solid ability to get to the rim, and potential to be a plus defender as well.

According to Toye, Vanderbilt was just the right fit for him both in terms of basketball and academics.

"It is a great academic school and basketball program," Toye explained. "They have a great group of coaches and the SEC is a good conference. I feel it is the right fit for me."

In picking Vanderbilt, Toye chose the Commodores over schools such as Iowa and Creighton.

Toye visited Vanderbilt and felt good about the trip, and since then he had been given serious consideration to the school.

"I've been considering a few options for a little while, but after talking things over with my parents last week and I just came to the decision that I wanted to pick Vanderbilt," said Toye.

Currently Toye is viewed as a four-star prospect and the No. 16 small forward in the country. This is a big start to the 2015 recruiting class for Vanderbilt.
