Konate commits to Minnesota

Bakary Konate, a 6-foot-11 post player, committed to Richard Pitino and Minnesota.

Richard Pitino added a fifth pledge to his 2014 recruiting class at Minnesota on Wednesday.

Bakary Konate, a 6-foot-11, 230-pound post player out of Bel Aire (Kans.) Sunrise Christian Academy, committed to the Gophers over interest from Louisville, Texas A&M, Tulane and Oklahoma.

"They were one of the ones that came in and saw him early," Sunrise coach Kyle Lindsted told Scout.com. "They talked to him for a while. He went on that visit and fell in love with it."

Konate's visit to Minnesota was in February. The only other school Konate visited was Louisville.

"I think he felt more comfortable from the start and they stayed with it," Lindsted said. "In the kids mind and heart that's where he wanted to be."

Konate joins Josh Martin, Nate Mason, Gaston Diedhiou and Carlos Morris to make up their current recruiting haul.
