Sunrise guard starting to add interest

Vailije Pusica, of Belgrade, Serbia, is starting to garner interest because of his ability to shoot the ball.

As the final signing period approaches, college coaches are searching for available guards.

One guard having a strong senior season is Vasilije Pusica, of Bel Aire (Kans.) Sunrise Christian Academy. A 6-foot-4 guard, Pusica is known for his ability to shoot the ball, but he also has good ball skills.

"He's a great shooter," Sunrise coach Kyle Lindsted told Scout.com. "He's big, thick and strong and he's tough. There are not many guys that are as physical and tough as that kid that are pure shooters."

"He's a finesse shooter," he added. "I just love him because I like that he plays that physical brand of basketball."

Pusica currently has scholarship offers from San Diego and Portland. Nebraska, UTEP and St. Bonaventure have also shown interest.

"He'd be a great Missouri Valley guy," Lindsted said. "He'd be a killer Missouri Valley player. I don't think he's a stretch for a high major to take him, but I think he'd be a dominant in the Missouri Valley."

Pusica, a native of Belgrade, Serbia, has taken an official visit to San Diego.
