Most in the Chicago area expected Matthews to wait out his recruitment, however things changed when he and his parents went to Twitter stating that a decision had been reached.
Matthews says he has a list of five schools which includes Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan State, and Marquette. Of those schools Matthews has never been to Kansas for a visit. The most recent trip he took was down to Illinois.
For Matthews, a 6-foot-5 wing, it has been a long recruiting process that started his freshman year. He has the ability to handle the basketball, and then is dynamic in the mid-range.
Unfortunately this season he suffered numerous injuries which limited his overall production, but he is still one of the best talents in the class.
A decision will be announced on Wednesday, and that will take one of the top players in the class off the board.
