Bruce Brown is an athletic and tough guard who is putting up some big scoring games this year…
Vital is one to watch
Saxtons River (VT) Vermont Academy standout Christian Vital first really emerged at the Hoop Group Future All-American Camp, now the class of 2016 standout is having an excellent sophomore season. Despite battling an injury, he is picking up offers. "I think we are playing pretty well as a team," said Vital. "We have four sophomores which are our main guys. KJ (Santos) has been out from the beginning after a big game, but to be 6-0 in our league and the youngest team in our league speaks volumes. With a first year head coach it has just been a bunch of new guys coming together and wanting to win." At 6-foot-2, Vital has always been seen as somebody who can get buckets, but now he says that he is hoping to become a more complete player. "I think I have been playing well," explained Vital. "Coach has helped me with my confidence and I have gotten extra reps in the gym, and I think I have been playing well. I've been known as a shooter, but I am trying to be more of a facilitator who can also score. I just want to be an all-around player." Recruiting wise things have been picking up with Vital as more schools get a chance to see him. "I just received an offer from Boston College," noted Vital. "Then also I have VCU and a few other offers." VCU has former Vermont Academy Coach Jesse Bopp on staff, and Vital says that gives him a sense of familiarity. "I really like VCU a lot," noted Vital. "I originally came to Vermont Academy to play for Coach Bopp. I actually made a visit there this summer and I got to see Coach (Shaka) Smart and Coach Bopp. It was fun, the whole team was great. I had a real good time there." Also the offer from Boston College was big, as it validated a lot of the work that Vital has been putting in. "They are a high major, and they were my first high-major offer," explained Vital. "I have been working at that for a long time. I haven't really been known as one of those high-major players in the past, and to receive a high-major offer meant a lot." For now Vital is just hoping to close out the season strong and continue to improve his point guard skills.
