To say things are going well for Mike Krzyzewski on the recruiting trail would be an understatement. After getting great news a week ago, Krzyzewski again got a five-star player on Thursday in five-star small forward Justise Winslow.
The Houston (Tex) St. John’s standout picked the Blue Devils over fellow finalists Florida, UCLA, Arizona, Texas A&M, and Stanford on Thursday, and now the Blue Devils have a third five-star commitment.
"Next year I will be going to Duke University to play for Coach K," said Winslow as he donned a Duke hat.
At 6-foot-6, Winslow is a bit of a do everything forward. He is one of the best defenders in the class, an excellent passer, a very good rebounder, and someone who can play virtually any position on the basketball court but center.
Also Winslow is someone who has the elusive quality of being a “winner”. That tough to describe “it factor” that makes some players and teams better than their talent suggests, Winslow has it. Combine that with the incredible talent an obvious top notch coaching that Duke already possesses, and this is a big commitment for the Blue Devils.
Duke had to work very hard for this pledge as Winslow made many trips to Arizona, Texas A&M, and recently checked in with UCLA.
Now Duke has commitments from three top 10 talents in Jahlil Okafor, Tyus Jones, and Winslow to go along with the commitment from four-star shooting guard Grayson Allen.
