It was a heated recruiting battle between Western Kentucky and Boston University, but in the end the Hilltoppers won out. On Monday night three-star point guard Avery Patterson picked the Sun Belt Conference school.
At 5-foot-11 with loads of toughness, Patterson was the top remaining prospect on the board from the state of Georgia. While not the purest of point guards, Patterson has a lot of talent and combines the ability to score with a ton of toughness.
In the end the decision came down to Western Kentucky and Boston, and after a tough battle Patterson chose the Hilltoppers according to AAU coach Ryan Falker.
“Avery chose Western Kentucky,” said Falker. “I think he will be a great fit there and be someone who can make an early impact for the program on the floor combined with being an excellent kid off of it.”
This is a big get for the Hilltoppers as not many quality point guards were left on the board. Patterson was a top priority, and now Western Kentucky has their floor general for the long term.
