Artison headed to Fresno State

Eugene Artison ended his recruitment this weekend, committing to Fresno State. The 2014 prospect discusses why he chose the Bulldogs.

Fresno State started off its 2014 recruiting class nicely this weekend, landing a commitment from 6-foot-8, 185-pound Seattle Franklin power forward Eugene Artison.

Artison is a very long and lean lefty forward who plays hard and really gets up and down the court in transition, often finding himself open down low for easy buckets. He's comfortable with his midrange jumper and during AAU season, showed a pretty good understanding for how to play the game.

The senior committed to Fresno State on an official visit.

"The coaching staff and I really connected," Artison said. "I love their philosophy and how they run their team. Also, the players there were real welcoming towards me."

Fresno State was the first school to offer Artison and built a strong relationship with him from that point forward.

"Coach (Mike) Schwartz and I have a great relationship," said Artison. "He kept everything open and he didn't sugarcoat stuff."

When Artison arrives in Fresno for good, he'll do so with high expectations.

"I think we could win the Mountain West," Artison said. Recommended Stories
