The decision is finally in for Kevon Looney. A five-star forward, Looney had a slight delay in his decision making process due to a snafu at school, but in front of family and friends at his school Looney decided to pick UCLA.
At 6-foot-8 with a high motor, length, athleticism, and toughness, Looney has been in high demand from college coaches for a while. Duke, UCLA, Tennessee, Florida, Michigan State, and Wisconsin all made the cut for Looney who kept things to himself during the entire time.
However in the end it was UCLA that earned his commitment on Thursday. The Bruins received the final official visit, and evidently they sealed the deal then.
Looney now will be asked to come in immediately and fill the power forward position for the Bruins, and that along with the good visit got things done. For Steve Alford and his staff this is a huge decision.
This is the second commitment for the Bruins in the class of 2014. Looney joins center Gyorgy Goloman in the class.
