Johnson pledges to FGCU

Joe Dooley added his third 2014 recruit on Monday. Florida native Zach Johnson is now a Florida Gulf Coast commit.

Miami (Fla.) Norland and Team Breakdown guard Zach Johnson made his college choice early Monday morning.

The 6-foot-2 combination guard pledged to Joe Dooley and his staff at Florida Gulf Coast. He confirmed the news to

"FGCU was the perfect place for me," Johnson said.

Johnson took an official visit to Florida Gulf Coast, as well as LaSalle. Butler, South Florida and Rhode Island were also involved in his recruitment.

"I'm real cool with the coaching staff and my game will excel extremely and I know they have an opportunity to make it to the tournament and compete every year," Johnson said.

Florida Gulf Coast now has three commitments in their 2014 recruiting class. Johnson joins Jacksonville (Fla.) Providence standout Christian Terrell and Junior College product Eric Moeller to make up their current recruiting class.
