Divincenzo talks recent offers

Things are picking up on the recruiting trail for Donte Divincenzo. The Delaware native is making visits and picking up offers.

One player who has been picking up a lot of momentum lately is class of 2015 guard Donte Divincenzo. The Wimington (Del) Salesianum School product had a solid run of things this summer with Team Final, and now college coaches are coming in to his school and leaving impressed.

So far for Divincenzo things are going well, and he says workouts at his school have led to high expectations.

"As a team our goal is to win a state championship," said Divincenzo. "We have the parts necessary to do that. Everybody has worked hard in the off season as a team. Individually I just want to get better every day. I have worked on my ball handling, and I am transitioning to be able to play the one or the two in college."

Recruiting wise a lot of college coaches have come in to watch, and several have offered him a scholarship.

"Syracuse, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Penn State, Boston College, Virginia Tech, and Vanderbilt is coming (Wednesday night)," said Divincenzo. "I have offers from Syracuse, Notre Dame, Villanova, Boston College and Virginia Tech."

The Syracuse offer came recently, and that was big for Divincenzo who already has a good friend at the ACC school.

"Getting an offer from Syracuse was big time," said Divincenzo. "It is a big time AAC school, and one of my friends, Trevor Cooney, goes there. He is from Delaware and I know him well. I went up to Syracuse for an Elite Camp at the end of the summer. I got to see their practice facility and talk to their coaches, so that was a good thing."

He continued, "Talking with Trevor he says that Syracuse is a great place and it is just awesome. I can see that from the time I was up there, it seemed great."

Also Mike Brey and Notre Dame have been very active in the recruitment and recently offered Divincenzo a scholarship.

"That was also big time because Coach Brey has a Delaware connection from coaching at (Delaware) before he went out to Notre Dame," said Divincenzo. "A lot of my school is huge fans of Notre Dame and I leave out there on Friday to take an unofficial visit."

One school that recently got a visit from Divincenzo was Rutgers, and he liked what he saw.

"I went there for a visit two weeks ago with my AAU coach," he explained of Rutgers. "They have a new coaching staff, but Coach (Eddie) Jordan looks like he is doing a good job with their coaches already. I like how they are running things up there."

For now it is still early for Divincenzo in his recruitment, but he does have a good idea of what he is looking for in a school.

"I want to be able to get to college and play, but at the highest level," said Divincenzo. "Also as a team I want everybody to feel like a family where they go at it on the court, but are likely family off of it."
