The LSU Tigers are now on the board in a big way in the class of 2015. Ben Simmons, who is a five-star prospect, has long had deep connections to the LSU program, and on Monday he picked the SEC school.
“I would like to announce I have committed to Louisiana State University, said Simmons via his twitter account.
To nab the 6-foot-10 Simmons, LSU had to beat out the likes of Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, and a host of other programs who were interested.
The Tigers had a major built in advantage as assistant coach David Patrick is the godfather to Simmons, and obviously has a very close relationship with the family. The presence of Patrick definitely played a key role in Simmons landing at LSU.
A native of Australia, Simmons is an athletic and physical post prospect who also has some skill. He runs the floor well, has good hands, and is just scratching the surface of how good he can become.
For LSU this is huge to add another star to what is already shaping up to be an athletic and dynamic frontcourt in the bayou.
Currently Simmons is seen as the No. 2 power forward and the No. 8 overall prospect in the class of 2015.
