The LSU Tigers picked up a big commitment on Tuesday morning. Not only did they land a highly touted four-star center, but it was Elbert Robinson, so they added about 7-feet and 335 pounds to their frontline with the pledge. Robinson, who ran with the LBA Seawolves over the summer, had seemingly been favoring the Tigers for a while.
Robinson quite simply is one of the more imposing players in the country. His size allows him to really dominate defenders who play behind him in the post, and then he has fairly nimble feet for a guy his size and excellent hands as well. Robinson does need to get into a bit better shape, but the things that he can do on the court are impressive.
With that combination of size and skill, Robinson had offers from LSU, Ohio State, Georgetown, Nebraska, and a whole host of other programs. However the LSU Tigers seemingly had led for the last few weeks, and they secured the commitment on Tuesday.
This gives LSU a needed true center to complement the talented 2013 forwards that they brought in such as Jordan Mickey and Jarell Martin. Both of them are athletic and tough forwards who play inside and out, while Robinson is a space eater who controls the paint.
By committing this is the second pledge for the Tigers in the 2014 class. Robinson joins under the radar center Aaron Epps in the class for Johnny Jones and company.
