Seminoles land top juco guard

Just a couple days ago I wrote a story about the shrinking point guard pool within the Class of 2014, and Florida State resourcefully found a solution.

Well-traveled floor general Josh Gray has committed to the Seminoles, announcing the decision via twitter:

"Proud to be a #Seminole."

A one-time Mississippi State signee who obtained a release when Rick Stansbury exited the program, Gray made his first collegiate stop at Texas Tech.

As a freshman last season, he posted strong averages that included 10 points, three assists and two steals per game. He developed a reputation for intelligent play and blossomed during the course of the season, but the Red Raiders' coaching change compelled him to once again alter his trajectory.

He landed at Odessa (Texas) junior college and enters his sophomore campaign as one of the country's most touted juco guards. FSU recently learned that freshman Xavier Rathan-Mayes would be ineligible this season, and although Gray obviously can't help this year, his commitment provided some welcome good news.

He actually became the second recent juco pledge for Leonard Hamilton's program. Equally or perhaps even more celebrated Cinmeon Bowers also will make his way to Tallahassee. Recommended Stories
