Dayton was looking to add size down low to their 2014 class, and they did that on Thursday night.

The Dayton Flyers wanted to add a big center in their 2014 class, and there aren't many human beings bigger than New Haven (Ind) product Steve McElvene.

At 6-foot-11 and 285 pounds, McElvene was the low post anchor for Spiece Indy Heat this spring and summer. McElvene is someone who burst onto the scene late after arriving in Indiana from Alabama where he spent the early part of his high school career.

A massive center with good hands and a decent touch, McElvene keeps on getting better and better. Last week he took an unofficial visit to Dayton, and on Thursday night he committed to the Atlantic 10 program.

"They showed me the most interest," said McElvene of Dayton. "I could tell they really wanted me and that was important. Also I liked the coaching staff and really thought it was the best place for me both on and off the court."

Along with Dayton, McElvene also had an offer from Pittsburgh and interest from Purdue. However the Flyers were the most consistent team on McElvene and were showing him the most attention. That led to a commitment.

McElvene joins combo guard Darrell Davis in the Flyers 2014 class, and now they will look to add another wing into the mix.
