The St. Louis Billikens are looking to get more athletic on the perimeter and they are going a long way to doing that with their 2014 class. On Thursday night the Billikens landed a quality point guard in Decatur (Ill) MacArthur product Marcus Bartley.
Bartley is a point guard with good size and excellent floor vision. He is athletic, can get into the lane, and seemingly sees things one step ahead of things.
Along with St. Louis, Bartley also considered Creighton heavily. Beyond that Northwestern showed some early interest as did DePaul, Purdue, and Oklahoma State. However according to Peoria Irish AAU coach Gavin Sullivan, Bartley just felt most comfortable with the Atlantic 10 school.
“St. Louis really showed that they believed in his ability and he was able to get comfortable with the entire coaching staff,” said Sullivan. “Also it is a great academic situation and that is something that was very important to Marcus.”
Bartley now joins Memphis guard Davell Roby in the recruiting class. This is the first full recruiting class for head coach Jim Crews.
