Richardson picks Ball State

Power forward Rashaun Richardson is headed to Ball State for college.

First year Ball State Head Coach James Whitford has made it a point to recruit the state of Indiana hard. One of his top targets since getting the job has been Indianapolis (Ind) Arsenal Tech power forward Rashaun Richardson. Now Richardson will play for the Cardinals.

"I am committing to Ball State," said Richardson at his school.

At 6-foot-7 Richardson is a versatile and athletic forward who can finish well above the rim and has a nice touch from the mid-range. Now he feels he can make an impact right away at the Mid-American Conference school.

"I just felt like next year with the seniors they have leaving that I would have a chance to play right away," said Richardson.

Over the weekend Richardson made his official visit to Ball State, and he came away impressed with the coaching staff and how they are working with the players.

"I feel like the players trust Coach Whitford and believe in him," said Richardson. "Coach has them working hard and I think I could come in and learn."

In Whitford's preferred system his power forward is able to play inside and out, and Richardson feels that suites his game quite well.

"I am somebody who can stretch the floor and depending on who is guarding me I can go on the post or if a big guy is guarding me take him on the perimeter," said Richardson.

By picking the Cardinals, Richardson becomes the first commitment for Ball State in the class of 2014. Recommended Stories
