Missouri snags Suggs

Missouri is on the board in the 2015 class with wing Ronnie Suggs.

The Missouri Tigers have been hitting the recruiting trail hard snagging numerous commitments recently. The latest one to pick the Tigers is Washington (Mo) wing Ronnie Suggs.

Suggs, who is currently a member of the 2014 class, will head to prep school after the year before going to Missouri, so he will be in the class of 2015. "For Ronnie as long as I can remember, Ronnie was excited about Missouri," said Suggs' father Ron. "One of the motivating factors for him was the opportunity to play at home. Our oldest son went off to Washington, and Ronnie only got to see him a few times in four years. He wanted a situation where we could see him."

At 6-foot-4, Suggs has long arms, good athleticism, and a high motor. He had a solid showing with the St. Louis Eagles during the EYBL as a role player on the wing alongside Texas commitment Jordan Barnett.

According to Suggs, the Missouri coaches made it clear during the summer that they went to games to watch Ronnie.

"Missouri started to show interest in him his sophomore year, and then this summer they were at most of his games," Suggs explained. "They let it be known in July that they were following him, and that they were there for him."

Suggs, who is an honor roll student, didn't need to go the prep route, but with the help of his older brother Scott Suggs, decided it would be best for his development.

"Well before we made a decision, we were looking at prep school," said Suggs. "Just sitting down with my oldest son, he talked about the strength people have in the college game. Skill wise Ronnie is ready for college, but for him to be successful we felt that he would be stronger. Ronnie is young, and he needs time."

He continued, "The person who convinced him the most was Scott. He played a big role in helping Ronnie to understand that prep school was a good option."

Suggs is the first commitment for Missouri in the class, and is undecided on which prep school he will go to after the season.
