Chukwu continues to improve

Paschal Chukwu

It has been a productive year for Paschal Chukwu who is one of the top centers in the country.

Four-star center Paschal Chukwu is one of the best shot blockers in the class of 2014. Now the Fairfield (Conn) Prep standout is working hard to improve his offensive game while college coaches from all over are taking a long look.

Over the past year Chukwu has made tremendous strides with his game. While he is still a bit raw on the offensive end, he continues to make major improvements and is putting in work.

"I've gotten an opportunity to train in the morning and that has helped me offensively," said Chukwu. "I think that has helped me a lot. I have improved my back to the basket game, and I have really tried to improve my offensive game."

Recently Chukwu had a chance to get instruction from current and former NBA players at the NBPA Top 100 Camp, and it was an opportunity that Chukwu relished.

"It was a good experience," said Chukwu. "It was my first time at a camp like it, and I am blessed to be able to learn from the former pros. I learned a lot and I am thankful for that."

Recruiting wise schools such as Boston College, Providence, Virginia, Xavier, Georgetown, Connecticut, Syracuse, St. Joseph's, Villanova, Temple, and others are all recruiting Chukwu.

Only being in the country for a few years, Chukwu says he has been watching a lot of college basketball to familiarize himself with the schools recruiting him.

"I watched a lot and have kept in contact with college coaches who recruited me," said Chukwu. "I have been trying to see how schools use their centers and stuff like that."

He continued, "I am trying to see how they utilize their centers and see the strengths of the centers they have and how they try to use him. I just want to see how they win games and use their centers."

Chukwu is now rated as the No. 7 center in the 2014 class and the No. 49 prospect overall.
