Nova gets good news in 2014

Villanova kept one of the best in the Philadelphia area close to home with the decision of Mikal Bridges to pick the Big East program.

The Villanova Wildcats got good news in the 2015 class last week with Tim Delaney, and now the 2014 class got good news with four-star small forward Mikal Bridges. The Team Final standout issued his pledge to Villanova on Tuesday evening.

The 6-foot-6 Bridges started making a name for himself at the end of the high school season, and eventually proved his worth with Team Final on the Nike EYBL circuit.

Bridges picked up offers from schools like George Washington, Penn State, St. Joseph's, and Temple go along with Villanova. At the end of the day it was Villanova that was right for him.

"He's been there a couple of times unofficially," said Team Final AAU Coach Rob Brown. "He went there unofficially two weeks ago. Then today he went there and said he was going to pull the trigger for Villanova."

Brown continued, "I think Villanova was probably showing him the most attention. I think Mikal wanted to get it over with."

According to Brown, Bridges had already developed a strong relationship with the coaching staff, and that was a big key in him making an early decision for the local school.

Just moved up to four-star status, Bridges checks in as the No. 73 prospect in the country. He is the first commitment for Villanova in the class of 2014.
