The top player in high school basketball, Wiggins, ended the speculation on Tuesday.
Wiggins signed with Kansas at a small gathering among family and friends at Huntington (W.V.) Prep. He picked the Jayhawks over Florida State, Kentucky and North Carolina.
"I was shocked," Huntington Prep coach Rob Fulford after the announcement.
"He said he felt it in his heart and after speaking with his family and getting their blessing to decide on where he wanted he to go that was just the pick," Fulford added.
Wiggins took official visits to all four schools involved. He visited Kansas on March 3rd.
"Bill Self's personality matches his," Fulford said. "He's laid-back like Andrew."
An elite level talent, Wiggins is a world-class athlete with impressive physical and athletic attributes. At 6-foot-8, he handles the ball well, is the top defender in the 2013 class and is a terrific transition scorer.
Wiggins joins a star-studded class at Kansas that consists of five-star wing Wayne Selden, as well as Joel Embiid, Conner Frankamp, Brannen Greene and Frank Mason.
With the addition of Wiggins, Kansas’ 2013 class jumps to No. 2 in the recruiting class rankings.
