Top 50 prospect Daniel Hamilton made his college choice. A California native, Hamilton will leave the west coast and play his college basketball at Connecticut.

Daniel Hamilton made his college commitment late Friday night.

A high-level talent out of Bellflower (Calif.) St. John, Hamilton committed to Connecticut over interest from a host of schools including USC, UTEP and Louisville.

Belmont Shore coach Dinos Trigonis confirmed the news to Scout.com.

"Daniel was comfortable with Los Angeles native Kevin Ollie and the freedom he gives his perimeter players," Trigonis told Scout.com. "Ollie's NBA experience and connections were a plus too."

Hamilton, a four-star prospect, is currently regarded as the No. 12 small forward and the No. 44 overall player in the 2014 recruiting class.

Hamilton is Ollie's first pledge in the 2014 class.
