Just as he began to make a name for himself on the national stage, Dakota Mathias decided to end his recruitment. The Elida (Ohio) native made his college decision on Sunday and he will be playing in the Big Ten.
Early on Sunday Mathias was in the middle of an impressive shooting display in which he scored 26 on Team Thad, and then he quietly decided to go leave the gym, or so it seemed.
Nearly as soon as Mathias got in the car to make the short drive back to Elida from Ft. Wayne he pulled the trigger and committed to Purdue. He confirmed this decision via text message with Scout.com.
Mathias ha already visited Purdue and Boston College officially, and the Boilermakers were the school showing him the most consistent attention dating back to the start of the season.
By picking Purdue, Mathias is the first commitment in what could be a big class for the Boilermakers.
