Heading into the weekend 6-foot-6 power forward Jamal Aytes didn't have a scholarship. He left the adidas Exclusive Run with a host of coaches evaluating him.

A number of schools are still in need of 2013 prospects to add to their roster.

So Jamal Aytes, a 6-foot-6 powerfully built power forward, was a big hit at the adidas Exclusive Run this past weekend.

Aytes led Dream Vision to the 17’s Gold bracket crown and was named MVP. Aytes was dominant in the paint. He aggressively hit the glass and scored it in a variety of ways on the block.

“I’ve proven that I’m ready,” Aytes said. “I still have things that I need to get better on, obviously I need to get my shot better and work conditioning and dribbling. I performed pretty well though.”

Aytes took pride in the fact that he was an enforcer in the paint.

“They can’t stop me down there,” Aytes said pointing at the painted area. “So I’m going to keep eating.”

Heading into the event, Aytes didn’t have a scholarship offer..

“I wanted to make sure my grades were straight, so I kept waiting and waiting and when I was ready to sign nobody was there,” Aytes told Scout.com.

Now Aytes has positioned himself to earn scholarships. He said BYU, Utah, Miami, VCU and Butler have shown some interest.

Since the event ended on Sunday, Aytes travel team coach Tank Thornton has received calls from Arizona, Washington State, USC, Washington State, Utah, Miami and BYU.

As a senior, Aytes averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds.
