CHICAGO -- Aaron Gordon, Scout.com's No. 6 player in the 2013 class, announced his verbal pledge to Arizona during a press conference at the McDonald's All-American Media Day.

Aaron Gordon is headed to Arizona.

During a press conference at the McDonald’s All-American Media Day, Gordon announced his future destination, picking the Wildcats over strong Kentucky, Oregon and Washington.

"I hope Tucson is celebrating because I'm going to be a west coast Wildcat," Gordon said during his press conference.

Gordon took official visits to his four finalists, plus Kansas, but opted for Arizona because of their current personnel and the possibility of playing on the perimeter for Sean Miller.

"I took all five of my officials," Gordon said. "I went to Arizona twice and went to Washington twice. I'm glad I did all of that. At the end of the day I just kind of felt it's where I would fit best and kind of felt that it was right in my heart."

Gordon said Arizona's current personnel played a major role in his decision making.

"Arizona has a young, long, athletic front court and a very experienced, talented backcourt with T.J. McConnell and Nick Johnson," Gordon said. "T.J. McConnell at Duquesne was third in the nation in steals and Nick Johnson can guard any position on the perimeter."

An elite level athlete, Gordon is tremendous in the open court, finishes well around the rim and plays with great energy and effort. He’s been arguably the biggest standout during the McDonald’s All-American practices this week.

With the addition of Gordon, Arizona will move into Scout.com’s top 10 team rankings. Gordon joins five-star forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, as well as four-star recruit Elliott Pitts to make up their three-man class.

Gordon has led San Jose (Calif.) Archbishop Mitty to a pair of state championships. Gordon is regarded as Scout.com’s No. 6 overall prospect.
