Thompson to take two visits
Since decommitting from Vanderbilt, Darius Thompson has become a hot name on the recruiting trail. In a loss in the Tennessee state playoffs on Wednesday, Thompson, a 6-foot-3 guard out of Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Blackman, had coaches from Alabama, Tennessee, Virginia and Auburn in the stands. "In the past month recruiting has picked up a lot really," Thompson said. "Since the signing period is coming up so fast. It's really picked up a lot. A few coach have been coming in and calling me." To go with the four schools at his last game, Thompson said Florida State is also involved in his recruitment. Now that his senior season is over, Thompson, a 6-foot-4 guard, is planning to take a pair of college visits. "In the next few weeks I'll have to take two official visits," Thompson said. "I know for right now I'm going to go to Tennessee and the second one I'm not sure where I'm going to go to." Thompson confirmed that his plan was to cut his list to Tennessee and another school and go from there. "Right after I take my two visits, then I'll decide right away," he added. Thompson took an unofficial visit to Tennessee last weekend. "It was the first time I got to see it," Thompson said about Tennessee. "It had a really good college atmosphere. They have a really good support system there." What does Thompson like about Tennessee? "Their coaching staff," he said. "I have a good feel for coach [Cuonzo] Martin and their whole coaching staff." Thompson, who averaged 16 points a game this year, doesn't have any dates set for official visits.
