Thomas hoping to make visits

Five-star center Elijah Thomas proved himself all season at Prime Prep. Now he is hoping to make some visits.

Five-star class of 2015 center Elijah Thomas from Dallas (Tex.) Prime Prep is having an excellent season. The sophomore has showed his skills on the biggest stages all year long, and he is hoping to make some visits soon.

"It's been a blessing to play with a team that is like a family where everyone has high goals and expectations," said Thomas of being at Prime Prep. "Practice is harder than games for us. Everybody just competes with each other, and it is a blessing to play on a team like that."

With his strong play schools like Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Kansas, UCLA, Ohio State, Duke, North Carolina, Arizona, Illinois, Baylor, Georgetown, Indiana, North Carolina State, and others have all shown interest.

With such a long list Thomas has been hoping to get out and see some schools this year, but due to a busy schedule that has been difficult.

"I haven't had a chance to see any games. I was planning on it before I transferred, but on this team we have so many games that I didn't have time," said Thomas. "I was planning to take a visit to Duke pretty soon, but I couldn't take it because we will be in Tennessee, but I had plans to go there."

According to Thomas he wants to see Duke for a variety of reasons.

"I just want to see how cool their fans are because everyone says the Cameron Crazies are very into the game and they interact with the recruits," said Thomas. "Also I want to sit down and talk to Coach K personally and not just over the phone. They do a good job of recruiting because they talk to you and say who you remind them of. Also they tell you what you need to work on to bring your game to the next level."

Other schools that Thomas is hoping to visit include, Georgetown, Indiana, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Illinois, UCLA, and Ohio State.

When it comes to the Fighting Illini, Thomas is building a strong relationship with the coaching staff, specifically assistant Jamall Walker.

"It's really good to build a relationship with Illinois," said Thomas. "They aren't going to recruit many bigs in my grade which is a good feeling. They are truthful with you, and they talk to you like you are a part of the family. The relationship we have is better than normal and that is pretty good."

Also Ohio State has done a good job of recruiting Thomas, and is firmly in the mix.

In terms of North Carolina, there has been some contact, but Thomas says the Tar Heels are taking it slow.

"We have talked once or twice, but it isn't that serious," Thomas explained. "They just told me they loved the way I play and that they would follow up. It wasn't as serious as the rest of the schools who have talked to often, but with North Carolina they aren't going to recruit a lot of guys, and want to make sure that you fit their program perfectly."

Currently Thomas is the No. 5 center and the No. 12 prospect overall.
