Rimmer commits to Stanford
Schuyler Rimmer is headed west. Rimmer, who had his list of schools narrowed to four, committed to Johnny Dawkins and Stanford Thursday evening. "Stanford is obviously a great school academically, but I just felt with the coaching staff, with coach Dawkins experience helping with Team USA and helping their guys develop and with coach Madsen staff, it really presented a unique opportunity," Rimmer explained. "I think it can help develop me into the best possible player that I can." Rimmer said academics played a major role in him narrowing his list of schools, then he tried to find the best fit on the court. "It was a pretty big role in helping me narrow my list down," Rimmer said. "Once I was down to the four schools – Virginia, Vanderbilt, Stanford and Souther Cal – they are all really good academic schools," he said. "That really helped me just focus on basketball and just how I would fit in at that school." Rimmer took an official visit to Stanford the weekend of October 6th. That trip helped him feel at ease with the school and the campus. "All the visits that I went on I tried to imagine myself at the school," he said. "When I went out there I was comfortable with the guys on the team and the campus. I really just had a good feeling about spending my next four years at that school." At 6-foot-10, Rimmer is a big post prospect that rebounds his area well, but also has soft touch on his jump hooks. He said Stanford plans to use him on the block, but also facing the rim. "They see me being a four man that can either post up or step out to three-point range," he said. "The way they run their offense it really allows versatile players to showcase different aspects of their game. I really feel like I'll be able to flourish and do well in their system." Rimmer, a three-star recruit, is the third 2013 prospect to commit to Stanford. He joins top 100 guard Marcus Allen and his brother Malcolm Allen.
