Johnson to Washington

Darin Johnson's commitment is in, as the Top 100 shooting guard is headed to Washington. He talks to about his decision.

Washington has added its second Top 100 commitment of 2013, picking up a pledge from 6-foot-4, 195-pound Sacramento (Calif.) Sheldon shooting guard Darin Johnson, the four-star prospect has informed's 84th ranked prospect in 2013, Johnson chose Washington over finalists Oregon, Texas A&M and San Diego State.

"I'm going to Washington," said Johnson. "I love how they develop guards to play at the next level. Coach (Lorenzo) Romar is amazing, I feel like it's a great atmosphere there, I see myself fitting in immediately and I just think it's a great fit."

The Washington coaching staff did a good job of bonding with Johnson throughout the recruiting process.

"They're straight up dudes," he said. "They don't promise you anything and it's the kind of coaching staff that makes you work to get better."

One of the top scorers in his class on the West Coast, Johnson made it clear that he felt comfortable in Romar's system.

"The way they run their offense and the tradition fits me almost perfectly and I can really see myself there," Johnson said.

Johnson envisions himself showing up and being able to score points early in his Washington career.

"I'm going to score," he said. "With the kind of system they run, I'll have a lot of freedom. I see myself running up and down and scoring."
