Williams getting ready to narrow list

D'Erryl Williams

After picking up offers from San Diego State and Marquette, where does 2013 point guard D'Erryl Williams stand in his recruitment?

After a productive summer on the AAU circuit, 6-foot-3, 190-pound Sacramento (Calif.) Sheldon 2013 point guard D'Erryl Williams is getting closer to making a decision.

Williams has recently picked up scholarship offers from San Diego State and Marquette, which joined a list of schools such as LMU, USC, Fresno State, San Jose State, San Diego, Long Beach State and San Francisco.

However, there are a handful of schools that are being seriously considered right now.

"The latest offers that have come in are Marquette and San Diego State," said D'Erryl Williams, Sr. "LMU has always been there and now San Diego State is there. He visited San Jose State and San Diego is also involved."

D'Erryl Williams, Sr. made it clear that all of the schools involved are still being considered.

"All the schools left fit a style that fits D'Erryl, which is key," he said.

There are currently two visits on the agenda.

"On Oct. 12 we'll visit San Diego State for Midnight Madness, and then on Oct. 19 we'll visit LMU," D'Erryl, Sr. said.

The LMU and SDSU coaching staffs have both done a good job recruiting Williams.

"Both San Diego State and LMU coaches are awesome," said D'Erryl, Sr. "The LMU coaching staff has always had a lot of confidence in D'Erryl, both in his all-around game and his ability to hit jumpers. D'Erryl feels a bond with both coaching staffs."

San Diego State recently landed a commitment from Dakarai Allen, a high school and AAU teammate of Williams, as well as a close friend.

"D'Erryl and Dakarai have played together since 7th grade and they've been best buddies for a long time," said D'Erryl, Sr. "If you watch them play, you can see the connection they have; there's a bond. It could be an extension of what they have done the last 5 to 6 years.

"But he's still looking at all options right now."
