Head Coach James Johnson is trying to put together a very solid first class and he went a big way to getting that done on Sunday morning when Charlotte native Donte Clark picked the Virginia Tech Hokies. The Chatham (Va.) Hargrave Military product picked the school following an official visit.
“I picked them because it felt like a great fit and a good environment,” said Clark. “Also I have been pretty close with Coach Johnson for a while and he is a good dude.”
Clark made the decision at the end of his visit to the school. He says that the combination of fan support and facilities helped him make the choice.
“The campus everything was pretty new, they have a good weight room, a good practice facility, good locker room and the fans were very supportive,” said Clark. “Everybody in the team was cool it was a great place.”
Clark is a three-star guard and someone who was very solid all summer long for the Georgia Stars. With opportunity to play right away and the ACC conference, Clark says it is big to be a part of this class and what Johnson is trying to build in Blacksburg.
“It is an honor to be a part of his first class,” said Clark. “I see myself fitting in well and Erick Green is leaving and they need another guard.”
Clark now joins Trevor Thompson in the Virginia Tech class.
