The Auburn Tigers have pulled in a point guard in a tough recruiting battle with Butler and Richmond.

He is only 5-foot-8, but Tahj Shamsid-Deen can really score the basketball. Playing with Southern Stampede on the EYBL, Shamsid-Deen proved himself against the best, and finished very strong in the month of July.

That led to official offers from Auburn, Butler, Connecticut, and Richmond, but in the end it was the Tigers that landed the pledge.

"Tahj Shamsid-Deen will be taking his talents to Auburn University," said the Southern Stampede twitter account.

Shamsid-Deen made an official visit to Auburn during the month of August, and after a hard battle with the other finalists managed to get his commitment.

A good scorer with good quickness and solid leadership capabilities, Shamsid-Deen makes up for his lack of size in a big way.

He is the first commitment for the Tigers in the class of 2013, and someone who should bring immediate stability to their backcourt.
