2014 Intro: Thomas Welsh
Thomas Welsh, 6-11 JR C Los Angeles (Calif.) Loyola, is one of the more promising big men in the West Coast class of 2014. Welsh is still growing into his body, but he's got a nice feel, pretty good hands and he plays with toughness. An injury sidelined him this past July, but a number of schools have shown early interest. "I've visited UCLA, USC, UC Santa Barbara and Santa Clara," said Welsh. "Santa Clara has offered and I'm also hearing from Arizona State, Cal, Portland, Rice and Brown." When asked if any school stands out for him, Welsh replied, "I like all of them right now." I asked Welsh what he's looking for in a school. "I want to go somewhere with the best possible academics and athletics," said Welsh. "Someplace where I can see myself thriving." I asked Welsh if location will play a role in his decision. "The west would be good, but it doesn't really matter too much," said Welsh. Welsh said one school stood out for him when he was growing up. "Duke was my dream school," said Welsh. "I always liked them." Welsh said he doesn't have a time frame for making his decision. He said he has a 3.6 GPA.
