Pittsburgh has landed their first commitment in the 2013 class, four-star PF Mike Young.

During the month of July Mike Young indicated that we wanted to make some visits. One of them was to the University of Pittsburgh. Now shortly after the end of the AAU season, Young has decided to issue his commitment.

Ultimately for Young the decision came down to Pittsburgh or Florida. However during the process he also had picked up offers from West Virginia, Memphis, Connecticut, Miami, Xavier, and Georgia Tech.

Now the 6-foot-8 and 210 power forward has decided that the Panthers are the right program for him.

“Pittsburgh!!!,” said Young via text message.

Along with being a Western Pennsylvania native, Young was also recruited by New Jersey native Brandin Knight. Knight, like Young, was a member of the Playaz Basketball Club. His hard work recruiting Young since his freshman season has now paid off with a commitment.

Currently Young ranks as the No. 85 prospect in the country and the No. 20 power forward. He is the first commitment for the Panthers in the 2013 class.
