One of the top point guards in the country grew up an admitted follower of the Blue Devils. So is…
NBPA Camp: Day One, Evening, Part A
Anthony Barber, PG – One of the top performers of the day was this Virginia native. This setting is perfect for Barber because he's able to use his speed in transition, but what stood out to me was his pace and ability to control his speeds not only in the open court, but also in the half court. He made great decisions with the basketball and was able to get teammates looks. He scored 10 points and also tossed out five assists during the evening session. Kendal Harris, PG/SG – A combination guard, Harris played well on Friday, and especially when he was able to get in transition or find open spaces. Blessed with a strong frame, Harris, a 6-foot-3 guard, scores well through contact and found ways to get to the rim during his evening session game. Dominic Woodson, PF/C – The aggressive low post prospect out of Texas was active in the paint during the night session. Woodson, a 6-foot-9, 255-pound big man, threw his weight in the paint, rebounded the ball with aggression and showed an array of scoring moves. His best offensive move was a 12-foot fadeaway he scored over an outstretched defender, but he also hit a jump hook and had strong finishes at the rim. He finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Jarrell Martin, PF – Picking up where he left off at Pangos All-American Camp two weeks ago, Martin as aggressive at the rim and looked to grab every possible rebound he could. While his jumper wasn't necessarily going down, Martin made strong drives to the rim, actively contested shots and ran the floor well. Martin finished with six points and seven boards in his night session game. Kevon Looney, PF – Looney was his normal aggressive self Friday evening. Looney aggressively attacked the rim from the high post and even had a coast-to-coast finish that had people in the crowd buzzing. At 6-foot-8, Looney has impressive ball skills, but his length, toughness and athleticism around the basket also standout. To go with all that, he's a terrific rebounder and he'll get his fair share of put backs every time he touches the floor. He scored 11 points and tacked on seven boards in his night session game. *After a 13-point, eight-rebound outing in the morning, D'Angelo Russell scored eight points and tossed out a trio of assists during the night session. He connected on a pair of threes and threw an impressive alley-oop pass off a drive to the rim. *2013 shooting guard Isaac Hamilton had his skill set on display during the evening session. At 6-foot-4, Hamilton is a good ball handler that can get shots from mid-range and at the rim.
