Just a few hours after he made his decision about college, Villa Park's 6-9 forward Sean Phaler was injured in a car crash...

Sean Phaler, 6-9 PF, Villa Park (Calif.) High was seriously injured in a car crash Friday night, according to the Orange County Register.

On his way to San Diego to visit a relative, Phaler's car hit a truck on Interstate 163.

Reportedly, Phaler was hospitalized with a few chipped vertebrae and will have to wear a back brace for months.

This happened just hours after Phaler had decided to attend New Mexico, picking the Lobos over USC, San Diego State and Irvine.

Phaler had signed a National Letter of Intent to UCLA last fall. But new head coach Ben Howland told Phaler he didn't project Phaler getting much playing time so Phaler decided to opt out of his NLI.
