When coaches make their way to Evansville (Ind.) Bosse, many of them are aware of highly touted guard Jaquan Lyle. However Lyle isn't the only talented class of 2014 guard on the roster. Guard Bo Burkhart also is attracting significant college attention.
The 5-foot-11 Burkhart is a three sport standout who is attracting division I attention in soccer and football to go along with hoops. For now he is focused on getting better on the basketball court during the AAU season.
“The spring is going well,” said Burkhart. “Playing with Spiece Indy Heat we get a lot of recognition and go to a lot of great places playing against great competition.”
He continued, “I have been working a lot on my ball handling, and also I have just focused on defense.”
Recruiting wise schools such as Bucknell, Kennesaw State, Valparaiso, Central Michigan, Ohio, TCU, Boise State, Indiana State, and Wright State have been in constant contact. Also other high-major schools have begun to show some attention.
For Burkhart right now he is focused on getting better, though he has a pretty good idea of what he will be looking for in a college.
“I am just where I fit best,” said Burkhart. “I know I want to go somewhere where I will compete. I am trying to improve my ball handling so I will be ready right away.”
Along with choosing a school, Burkhart will also be asked to choose a sport. For now he has a pretty good idea of what that will be, but he is open to all options.
“Right now I want to play basketball, but if football comes along, free school is free school,” said Burkhart.
