Freeman goes with UMass
It's been a big week for Derek Kellogg and UMass basketball. This past weekend the Minutemen scored a terrific transfer in Derrick Gordon, who helped lead Western Kentucky to the NCAA tournament. On Monday, UMass picked up a verbal pledge from Isaac Freeman. Freeman's father -- Kevin -- confirmed the news to Scout.com. "He really came down to UMass and Drexel," the elder Freeman said. "The reason he felt a little more comfortable at UMass is he felt like he fit in a little bit more with the players, atmosphere and environment that was at UMass." "He felt like he fit in at Drexel, but he felt like he fit the best there," he added. "He felt the most comfortable at UMass." Freeman was on UMass' campus this past weekend. "We were up there, me, my wife and him this weekend," Freeman's father said. "We were able to see the facilities and walk through everything." "It was exciting for him," he continued. "I think he felt those were the two schools that rose to the occasion. When he started to really look at them, they were really similar." Freeman, a 7-foot center from South Kent (Conn.) School, is the second verbal pledge in the 2012 class for UMass. He joins 6-foot-8 forward Tyler Bergantino to make up their current recruiting class.
