Signing Day Primer

Anticipation is mounting for the start of the Spring signing period as's top two prospects are expected to announce their choices late Wednesday evening.

Decision day is here.

Shortly after 7:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday, the basketball community will know where the top two prospects in the 2012 class will attend college.

Since reclassifying up a grade, Nerlens Noel,'s top rated player, has been the talk of the town. From college coaches to fans to the media, Noel has had all eyes on him.

But he's ready for that to end. In fact, no one is more excited to get his decision out of the way than Noel himself.

"I'm crazy excited, especially for my birthday the day before," Noel told Scout just two days before his announcement. "It should be a great relief to get it over with."

Noel's list consists of Kentucky, Georgetown and Syracuse. All three have had him on campus and have made their pitches during in-home visits.

As of late Monday night, Noel said he had not made up his mind.

"Not yet," he said. "I got to talk to my mom tomorrow."

Shabazz Muhammad's recruitment has had just as much, if not more, attention surrounding it.'s No. 2 prospect and top-rated wing will announce Wednesday evening as well. Muhammad is considering UCLA, Kentucky and Duke. He's visited all three multiple times and did recent in-home visits with the Wildcats and Blue Devils.

"[I'm] really excited to get this out of the way and go on with my career," Muhammad told

Muhammad tweeted a picture of National Letters of Intents to all three schools late Monday evening. He insinuated, and a source confirmed, that he would finalize his choice with his family Monday night.

Will Parker announce this week?

While Noel and Muhammad have dominated the talk, there are other quality recruits still available.

Tony Parker had planned on announcing his college choice this week, but Monday night he confirmed with that he's not sure when or how he's going to release his big news.

"I have no clue," he said.

Will Parker,'s No. 20 prospect in the 2012 class, announce this week?

"I might," he said. "I'm thinking about it."

Parker has a host of schools on his list and he's certainly kept everyone guessing. Among the schools involved are Ohio State, UCLA, Georgia, Duke, Memphis and Kansas.

With Noel and Muhammad set to announce this week, a source told that Parker will likely announce his choice at a press conference at his school next week.

Jefferson, Pollard and others still undecided

Amile Jefferson and Devonta Pollard are still on the board as well.

Jefferson told at the Kentucky Derby Festival Classic late last week that he was struggling to come up with a decision. He listed North Carolina State, Duke, Villanova and Kentucky at the event.

While many have pegged Duke and N.C. State as the schools to beat, John Calipari's crew from Lexington is making a late push.

Jefferson,'s No. 22 prospect, has said he wants to announce at his school in the next week or so. No decision date has been set.

Pollard, a five-star wing, is scheduled to visit Georgetown on Sunday.

Shortly after the visit, Pollard will likely be ready to announce his choice. To go with the Hoyas, Pollard is also considering Missouri, Texas and Alabama.

Top 10 prospect Anthony Bennett is still available, but not expected to decide in the next week. Bennett, who is considering Florida, Kentucky, Washington, UNLV and Oregon, is planning to take college visits after the Jordan All-American game.

Other top 100 prospects expected to announce in the next few weeks are Robert Upshaw and Chris Obekpa.
